Maine Media Women meets monthly throughout the
year, usually the first Saturday of each month. The May meeting
is its Annual Meeting.
Regular Members are individuals who are employed or self-employed
in a communications field, and others who support MMW's mission
and are interested in communications careers. People who are
enrolled in high school or college communications-related
courses may become Student Members.
Dues are set at the Annual Meeting. The membership year coincides
with the fiscal year, running from June 1 through May 31.
Dues are payable at the Annual Meeting or by June 1.
MMW is governed by an elected board of directors consisting
of the president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, immediate
past president, and two directors from the membership. Board
members serve a two-year term and meet at least twice a year.
No officer holds one position for more than two consecutive
terms. The board of directors is elected at the annual meeting.
MMW has no standing committees. Committees are formed by
the board, drawing from the membership, as needed. They are
dissolved when their work is done.
The board reviews these bylaws at least every five years.
Proposed changes are submitted to members 30 days before the
Annual Meeting to be voted on at that meeting.
Current paid members are eligible to vote at the Annual Meeting.
Matters voted on at the Annual Meeting — including dues,
election of the board, and changes to the bylaws — pass
when a majority of the members present at the Meeting vote
in favor of them.
MMW is non-profit, non-commercial, non-sectarian, non-partisan
and apolitical.
